Who is PIJAC?

The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) is a non-profit trade association, advocating for the pet industry, pet owners, animals, and the environment. PIJAC represents the needs of the pet industry and those they serve, promotes responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, and fosters environmental stewardship. We accomplish our mission through:

Government Affairs 

• Monitoring local, state, federal, and international legislation and regulations.
• Providing comments and testimony on industry positions.
• Offering support or opposition in the best interest of the industry, animals, and the public.
• Empowering members with timely information and the tools necessary to respond to legislative issues.
• Collaborating and forging strong networks among government agencies, industry groups, and non-governmental organizations.

Health & Animal Care Programs

• Developing best practice guidelines and codes of conduct for animal care.
• Developing and implementing proactive campaigns to minimize the impact of invasive species and diseases on pets, people, and the environment.
• Advancing public recognition of the importance of pet ownership to pets and people, illustrating the beneficial role of the pet industry in society.
